Pattern Languages and Learning Objects -e-Literate

According to the large lump point of view, each act of design or construction is an isolated event which creates an isolated building–”perfect” at the time of its construction, and then abandoned by its builders and designers forever.

Large lump development seems like such an adequate critique of current online learning development. Perhaps this is why the LMS seems so ill-suited to learning – it lacks an organic character where repair is the natural state. Like the use of flux – very much been in my thinking.

To overcome large lump development I think we need to move away from content or courseware development – and start to structure around learning patterns. The content will then begin to take it’s own form and be suited to the task at hand.
